The Gweru Magistrates’ Court heard that Chesango forced his way into Samantha Mandivavarira’s main house in Senga using an unknown object.
Mandivavarira told the court that she heard someone attempting to open her door and went outside to investigate. She allegedly saw Chesango wearing a mask and raised an alarm.
Chesango attempted to flee from the scene but was apprehended by other tenants who later handed him over to the police.
The court subsequently sentenced Chesango to eight months in prison for the offence.
