The commemorations were held at Zvishavane Campus on October 14 and Gweru Campus on October 15, under the theme “Lived Experience Heard: Real Voices, Real Change.”
The events highlighted the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging open conversations and promoting access to professional support.
Speaking to MSU Radio during the Zvishavane Campus commemorations, University Counsellor Chigulu Meresl urged people to listen without judgement and support those experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse and financial pressure.
Students were also encouraged to make use of the university’s counselling services and check on friends who may be going through difficult times.
World Mental Health Day is commemorated annually on October 10, although the university held its campus activities on different dates.
