The Chegutu Magistrate’s Court convicted a 40-year-old man and sentenced him to 20 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping his 14-year-old daughter. The crime occurred on the night of May 6, 2026, while the teenager was visiting his home in Chegutu during school holidays. The girl ordinarily lives with her mother in Darwendale following her parents’ divorce.
Medical evidence presented by the State corroborated the victim’s account and was central to securing the conviction.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) highlighted the ruling as part of its ongoing effort to deter perpetrators of child sexual abuse. The authority reaffirmed its dedication to upholding the legal rights, health, and futures of Zimbabwe’s children.
