Police in Midlands Province have arrested a 32-year-old man from Lower Gweru in connection with the murder of his wife following a domestic dispute.

According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the incident occurred on the 26th of May at Chizhanga Village, Sandwich Farm, under Chief Bunina in Lower Gweru. The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Paidaishe Moyo, allegedly died after being assaulted with a wooden log by her husband, Khulekani Phiri, who suspected her of having an affair with another man.

Police say the suspect allegedly assaulted the now deceased several times all over the body, leaving her unconscious. A relative who later visited the homestead discovered that the woman had already died. The matter was reported to ZRP Maboleni, leading to the arrest of the suspect. Police observed multiple injuries on the deceased’s body, including cuts on the head and bruises.

The suspect is expected to appear in court facing murder charges once investigations are complete. Authorities have urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence.
