Residents of Makwasha, Izaya Park, and Mandava are set to benefit from improved healthcare services as the newly constructed Makwasha Polyclinic is expected to open within the next two weeks.
The facility, which is being developed by Zvishavane Town Council, is part of ongoing efforts to improve access to healthcare services and reduce pressure on existing health institutions, including Zvishavane District Hospital and Mandava Clinic.
Speaking to MSU Radio during the full council meeting of 2026, Zvishavane Town Council Mayor, Councillor Takarangana Keta, said preparations for the commissioning of the clinic were at an advanced stage.
“We are pleased with the progress made so far. Within the next 60 days, Makwasha Polyclinic should be ready to open its doors to the public. At the moment, we are in the process of procuring medical equipment, furniture, and other essential supplies required for the facility to operate effectively,” said Councillor Keta.
The modern health facility includes consultation rooms, a maternity section, an outpatient department, and other key amenities aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the growing community.
Councillor Keta said the council remains committed to ensuring residents have access to quality healthcare services close to their homes.
“Our goal is to bring healthcare closer to the people. Once operational, the clinic will reduce travelling distances for residents and improve access to timely medical care, particularly for women, children, and the elderly,” he said.
He added that the project demonstrates the council’s commitment to enhancing service delivery and improving the quality of life for residents.
“Health is a critical component of community development. By investing in healthcare infrastructure, we are investing in the well-being and future of our residents,” added Councillor Keta.
Residents have welcomed the development, expressing optimism that the facility will reduce transport costs, ease congestion at existing clinics, and improve health outcomes in the area.
