The Zimbabwe Republic Police has urged motorists and the public to exercise caution during the Easter holidays and Zimbabwe’s 46th Independence celebrations.

Police said the holiday period is characterised by increased travel, as people attend church services, family gatherings, and Independence Day events across the country.

Authorities have since deployed officers nationwide, with roadblocks, stop-and-search operations, and patrols set to maintain law and order.

Motorists are being warned against speeding, overloading, and using unroadworthy or unregistered vehicles.

Police have also cautioned that vehicles without number plates, as well as those fitted with illegal lights and accessories, will not be tolerated.

The law enforcement agency said operations targeting such offences will be intensified, with offenders facing arrest and prosecution.

Zimbabweans are being encouraged to prioritise safety and comply with road regulations throughout the holiday period.
