The order, issued by Zvishavane District regulating authority Chief Superintendent Enock Chishiri under Section 4 of the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act, Chapter 11:23, will run from 31 October 2026 to 31 January 2027. The prohibited items include catapults, machetes, axes, knobkerries, swords, knives and daggers. The notice further authorises police officers to seize, without a warrant, any weapon or item capable of being used as a weapon found in the possession of a person in violation of the order. Members of the public who fail to comply with the prohibition order risk a fine not exceeding Level Five, imprisonment for up to six months, or both.
The prohibition applies to the areas under the Zvishavane and Mberengwa administrative districts as outlined in the notice.
Residents are therefore urged to familiarise themselves with the order and comply with the restrictions throughout the three-month period.
