The Zvishavane Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 53-year-old man to an effective 20 years’ imprisonment after convicting him of raping his 16-year-old daughter.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said the offences occurred in February 2026. Following investigations by law enforcement authorities, the accused was arrested, prosecuted and subsequently convicted by the court.
In sentencing the offender, the court imposed an effective 20-year prison term.
The NPAZ condemned the offence, emphasizing that sexual violence is a serious violation of human rights and that perpetrators will continue to face the full force of the law.
“The NPAZ condemns all forms of sexual violence. Such offences are a gross violation of human dignity, bodily integrity and the right to live free from abuse and fear,” the authority said.
The prosecution authority also encouraged members of the public to report cases of sexual abuse and gender-based violence to the police or relevant authorities to ensure survivors receive protection and offenders are brought to justice.
