Residents of Ward 10 in Chivi North Constituency have mobilised community resources to construct Zvamapere Clinic, a development expected to improve access to healthcare services for thousands of people who currently travel long distances to receive medical treatment.
The clinic is being built through a community-driven initiative supported by voluntary labour, financial contributions and donations of locally available building materials.
Speaking to MSU Radio, Ward 10 Councillor Kudakwashe Venganai said the overwhelming community response demonstrates residents' commitment to improving healthcare services in the area.
"The construction of Zvamapere Clinic is being made possible through the collective efforts of our community members. Residents are contributing their labour, donating locally available building materials and making financial contributions towards the project. This level of participation shows how determined the community is to improve access to health services."
Councillor Venganai said the project reflects the importance of community participation in local development and expressed optimism that continued support would accelerate construction of the health facility.
Residents said the clinic will significantly reduce the distance travelled to the nearest health centre, easing the burden on vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, young children, older persons and people living with chronic illnesses.
Community leaders believe the facility will strengthen access to primary healthcare services and contribute to improved health outcomes for surrounding villages once completed.
The project is one of several community-led development initiatives aimed at improving social service delivery in Chivi North through partnerships between local leadership and residents.
