Midlands State University’s Faculty of Built Environment, Art and Design has introduced an innovative cross-disciplinary capstone project aimed at equipping students with collaborative problem-solving skills needed in the modern built environment sector.
Executive Dean Dr Charles Paradzai said the initiative brings together students from all departments within the faculty to work on real-life projects requiring multidisciplinary expertise.
“The capstone project allows students from different disciplines to function as one team, combining their knowledge and skills to develop practical solutions to real-world built environment challenges,” said Dr Paradzai.
He said the initiative is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe and reflects the collaborative nature of today’s construction, planning and design industries.
“Industry no longer works in silos. Architects, planners, quantity surveyors and designers work together, and we are preparing our students for exactly that environment before they graduate,” he said.
Meanwhile, prospective students have been encouraged to apply for the Midlands State University August intake through the university’s online application platform.
