The offences began in October 2020 when the man asked the girl to accompany him to a cattle kraal in Bondiya Village, under Chief Samambo in Zhombe. On their way, he ordered her to undress, forcibly restrained her and raped her. He later gave her money and warned her not to tell anyone about the abuse.
The court heard that the abuse continued on multiple occasions until 31 July 2026, with the accused allegedly taking advantage of times when the victim’s grandmother was away from home.
The abuse came to light after the girl disclosed what had happened, resulting in a police report and the subsequent arrest and conviction of the accused.
The National Prosecuting Authority condemned all forms of sexual violence, particularly offences committed against vulnerable children by family members entrusted with their protection. The NPA reiterated its commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of sexual offences are brought to justice and face the full force of the law.
