In other news, two men were seriously injured after they were attacked by a gang of four assailants at Chachacha Business Centre in the Midlands Province last night. The victims, including bottle store operator Prosper Munamba, were assaulted near the business centre in what residents say is part of a growing wave of violent crime in the province. The attackers reportedly lay in wait around the bottle store before launching the attack, leaving the victims badly injured and in need of medical attention.
Munamba described the ordeal as terrifying, saying the suspects, believed to be young men, had positioned themselves strategically around his bottle store before striking.
He said the gang overpowered him and inflicted head injuries during the attack. The situation only ended when a friend noticed the commotion, drove towards the bushy area where the assault was taking place and flashed the vehicle’s headlights, causing the suspects to flee.
The incident has renewed concerns over the increasing number of armed robberies and violent attacks across the Midlands Province, with residents and business operators calling for improved security measures.
