Delivering the opening remarks, Gweru District Agricultural Extension Officer, Mr. T. Mubaiwa, underscored the critical necessity of equipping producers with technical expertise to meet national targets.
Providing academic leadership, MSU lecturer from the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, Mr. T. Madanzi said high wheat yields begin with proper planning and adherence to recommended agronomic practices from planting up to harvesting.
The technical sessions were complemented by industry perspectives from Avgust Zimbabwe Agronomist, Mr. B. Chavhundwa, and Farmers Choice Sales Agronomist, Ms. K. Chakoroma, who discussed the responsible use of herbicides and agricultural chemicals.
An interactive plenary session followed, providing a platform for participants to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical farming experiences.
Concluding the event, Ekhaya Farm Director, Mr. J. J. Dube, expressed appreciation for the active involvement of stakeholders committed to advancing the nation’s agricultural landscape.
MSU drives sustainable agriculture and food security through these strategic knowledge-sharing initiatives, ensuring that research-led innovation directly contributes to the modernisation goals of NDS2 and Sustainable Development Goal 2.
