Celebrating the transformative power of visual storytelling and digital design, the Midlands State University (MSU) Department of Multimedia, Graphics Designing and Editing under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities held the “MindScapes” Art and Multimedia Exhibition at the Zvishavane Campus on 03 June 2026.
The event highlighted the pivotal role of young creatives in shaping Zimbabwe’s cultural, technological, and economic landscape.
Speaking as the Guest of Honour during the exhibition, the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Industrialisation, Professor G. Mugumbate, commended students for using their creativity to develop innovative ideas capable of addressing societal challenges.
“Innovation begins with creativity. Platforms such as this exhibition allow students to express their ideas, develop their talents, and contribute meaningful solutions that can support national development and industrialisation,” said Professor Mugumbate.
She noted that universities have a responsibility to nurture innovative thinkers who can respond to emerging social and economic challenges through practical and sustainable solutions.
“The future belongs to young people who are able to transform ideas into products, services, and innovations that improve communities and create opportunities,” she added.
The exhibition featured a diverse range of artworks and creative projects, highlighting the talent and ingenuity of MSU students. The event also provided an opportunity for students to engage with academics, industry stakeholders, and members of the public while gaining exposure for their work.
Professor Mugumbate encouraged students to continue exploring their creativity and to view innovation as a tool for creating positive change within society.
During an immersive exhibition session, students directly engaged with guests to showcase diverse portfolios spanning personal narratives, societal reflections, and forward-thinking designs.
Concluding the event, departmental leadership expressed profound gratitude to the organising committees, faculty mentors, and students whose dedication solidified the exhibition’s success, voicing optimism that “MindScapes” will become a hallmark tradition at the University.
Through platforms such as the “MindScapes” exhibition, MSU reinforces its dedication to fostering an ecosystem of innovation, excellence, and practical empowerment to produce forward-thinking professionals equipped to champion cultural pride and drive the socio-economic milestones of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2)
