Zimbabwe Republic Police in Midlands Province has confirmed confirmed the death of a 49-year-old Redcliff man who was brutally killed following a dispute over payment for transport services.

Elias Kavhumbura Chimusito reportedly lost his life after being attacked by a scotch-cart transporter, Collen Ishmael, whom he had hired to carry groceries. The altercation arose after some of the groceries allegedly went missing, leading Chimusito to refuse payment.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, stating that Ishmael struck Chimusito on the head and shin with an axe during the confrontation, resulting in his death.

Police have since urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue, warning against resorting to violence.
