Stakeholders in Zvishavane are calling for the urgent establishment of a One-Stop Centre to address rising cases of gender-based violence in the district.

The call was made during a high-level meeting convened by the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe, where participants underscored the need for a coordinated and survivor-centred response.

Director of For Four Girls Trust, Doubt Majoni, said the proposed facility should be located at Zvishavane District Hospital to ensure survivors receive immediate and comprehensive care.

She noted that victims currently face a fragmented system, often moving between police, health facilities and social services to access help.

Majoni said a One-Stop Centre would bring essential services under one roof, including medical care, law enforcement, social welfare and support from institutions such as the National AIDS Council.

She added that serious offences like rape and sexual assault require a timely, integrated response to improve outcomes and strengthen case management.

The proposal highlights growing recognition of the need for accessible, community-based support systems to effectively address gender-based violence.
