The City of Gweru has pledged to strengthen mental health services following a tour of Queen of Peace Rehabilitation and Crisis Centre led by its founder, Dr. Stella Khumalo Punungwe.
The Gweru Mayor Councillor M. Chivhoko called on the local business community to partner with the centre through funding and material support to enhance its operations.
Dr. Khumalo urged local authorities to prioritise mental health, highlighting the centre’s role in removing vulnerable individuals from the streets and providing rehabilitation for those struggling with substance abuse. She stressed the need for institutional backing to sustain and improve services.
