The chrome mining company partnered with the school to reward learners who excelled in various track disciplines, awarding cash incentives and grocery packages to first-place winners. The initiative celebrated sporting talent while offering practical support to families within the rural community.
Chief Bvute commended FS Mining for its continued engagement with traditional leaders and its commitment to community development. School authorities said the sponsorship elevated the profile of the competitions and motivated learners to perform at their best.
Speaking at the event, FS Mining Community and Stakeholder Officer Mr Mabutho Sithole said the company remains committed to supporting education and grassroots development in Mberengwa. He noted that beyond the sporting sponsorship, the company has drilled a borehole in the village, is engaging stakeholders on road rehabilitation and is also working towards establishing the FS Foundation to assist orphans and underprivileged children.
Parents and community members who attended the Friday competitions described the partnership as a positive step in strengthening ties between the school and the mining sector while promoting talent identification at grassroots level.
