District Development Coordinator Mr Vafios Hlabati said the warning comes as some people continue mining despite the risks caused by flooding and saturated soils in the area.
He explained that the unstable ground increases the chances of shaft collapses, landslides, and flooding, putting lives at serious risk, especially following similar deadly incidents recorded in other parts of Zimbabwe in recent years.
Hlabati urged residents to prioritise safety and suspend all mining activities until conditions improve, adding that emergency teams are on alert as the district continues to receive heavy rainfall.
