The Zvishavane Town Council has apologised to residents for the deteriorating condition of roads in the town, blaming recent heavy rains and funding challenges for the damage.
Council Chairperson, Mr Takarangana Keta, told MSU Radio that damaged drainage systems and expanding potholes have made travel difficult, with some motorists reporting vehicle damage and longer travel times.
Mr Keta said delays and currency challenges in disbursements from the Zimbabwe National Road Administration have slowed maintenance efforts, as some funds are issued in ZiG while contractors demand payment in United States dollars.
